Job summary

Design & Build Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Safety Advisor to join a Tier 1 civil contractor on a major Queensland road/highway project. You will work closely with site teams to drive safety culture, implement high standards, and manage night-shift activities for 4–6 months with potential to move to days.

The role offers up to AU$190k package, an immediate start, and a long-term project with direct support from a Senior Safety Manager.

Qualifications

• Civil construction HSE experience on major road/highway projects.
• Exposure to bridge construction, structural works and bulk earthworks.
• Senior Safety Advisor experience with ability to challenge behaviours and hold teams accountable.
• Strong stakeholder management and practical problem-solving skills.

Job description

I am currently recruiting an experienced Senior Safety Advisor to join a well-established Tier 1 contractor, supporting one of Queensland’s major legacy infrastructure projects.

This is a great opportunity for a hands-on Senior Safety Advisor with a strong civil construction background who enjoys working closely with site teams, building relationships and helping create a positive safety culture while maintaining high standards across the project.

The position will initially involve night-shift work for approximately 4–6 months, with the potential to transition back to days thereafter.

The project is expected to continue through to mid-2028.

About You

• Civil construction HSE experience across major road and highway projects.
• Exposure to bridge construction, structural works and bulk earthworks.
• Experience managing excavation and ground stabilisation risks.
• Previous experience in a Senior Safety Advisor capacity.
• Confident communicator who can challenge behaviours and hold teams accountable.
• Comfortable working night shift and operating autonomously.
• Strong stakeholder management and practical problem-solving skills.
