Job summary

WSP is seeking a Rolling Stock Engineer or Senior Rolling Stock Engineer to support the delivery of complex passenger and freight rolling stock projects in Western Australia. This role spans the full asset lifecycle and offers technical leadership on major rail programs.

You will bring a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic or related Engineering, typically 3–10+ years in rolling stock, knowledge of braking systems, bogies, traction equipment, HVAC and train control

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic or related Engineering discipline.
• 3–10+ years of rolling stock engineering experience (design, manufacture, maintenance, asset management or rail systems).
• Knowledge of braking systems, bogies, traction equipment, HVAC and train control technologies.
• Familiarity with Australian rail standards and international rail standards.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or commitment to achieving chartership.

Responsibilities

• Lead rolling stock engineering activities across the asset lifecycle, including design, manufacture, testing, commissioning, maintenance, upgrades and service introduction.
• Provide technical assurance through the review and endorsement of engineering designs, modifications and system integration solutions.
• Work closely with clients, operators, maintainers, manufacturers and project stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes.
• Manage engineering work packages, including scope, programme, risk and budget considerations.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces to ensure safe, reliable and fit-for-purpose rolling stock solutions.
• Contribute technical expertise across asset management, assurance, maintenance strategies, performance optimisation and lifecycle planning.
