Job summary

WSP in Australia is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Fire Protection) to lead the design of mechanical drainage, pumped and wet fire systems for major rail, tunnel and underground projects. You will provide technical leadership and work within multidisciplinary teams to deliver nationally significant infrastructure.

You will mentor graduates, collaborate with clients and stakeholders, and help shape performance of critical transport assets while progressing your engineering leadership

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Approximately 6+ years' relevant industry experience.
• Demonstrated experience delivering mechanical infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of hydraulics, pumping systems and pressure pipework.
• Chartered status, or progress towards Chartership, will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and technical delivery of mechanical drainage, pumped and wet fire systems.
• Apply hydraulic engineering principles to complex infrastructure challenges.
• Review designs for technical quality, constructability and operational performance.
• Support risk assessments, design reviews and assurance processes.
• Work closely with civil, electrical, rail systems and operations teams.
• Build relationships with clients, contractors and project stakeholders.
• Mentor graduate and developing engineers.
