Job summary

The Opportunity Hub UK Ltd is seeking a Senior Risk Analyst to help build robust risk infrastructure for a fast-growing financial services startup. You will own risk models, analyze portfolio exposures, and produce clear leadership-ready reports while collaborating with product and compliance teams to embed risk thinking in everyday operations.

In Newcastle hybrid work, you’ll evaluate regulatory changes, perform stress tests, and explain complex risk findings to non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Risk Analyst in Financial Services, ideally at mid to senior level.
• Strong knowledge of quantitative risk methods and tools (SQL, Python or R).
• Understanding of UK PRA and FCA regulatory frameworks and governance.
• Ability to explain complex risk findings to non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfort operating in a startup environment with ambiguity.
• FRM or CFA or similar qualification is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain risk models that hold up under real market stress.
• Review credit, market and operational risk exposures and flag what needs attention.
• Produce clear risk reports for leadership and translate data into decisions.
• Collaborate with product and compliance to embed risk thinking in operations.
• Monitor regulatory changes and assess implications for the business.
• Run scenario analysis and stress tests and pressure-test assumptions.
