Job summary

The Opportunity Hub UK Ltd is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer in Newcastle to grow their cybersecurity career in a fast-growing startup environment.

You'll design and maintain security controls across cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP), build automated detection rules, and help bake security into CI/CD pipelines while collaborating with engineering. Hybrid work from Newcastle with flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Several years of hands-on experience securing cloud infrastructure and cloud security controls.
• Proficiency with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and scripting (Terraform/CloudFormation, Python or similar).
• Understanding of CIS/NIST/ISO 27001 frameworks.
• Experience with SIEM tools and incident response processes.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain security controls across cloud environments (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Build and tune automated detection rules to catch misconfigurations and threats.
• Run security reviews on new infrastructure and deployments before go-live.
• Investigate alerts, lead incident response, and document outcomes.
• Collaborate with engineering to bake security into CI/CD pipelines.
• Maintain policies, runbooks, and compliance documentation as the environment grows.
