Job summary

RTX is seeking a Field Technician to provide operational maintenance support for SATCOM terminals and rack-based RF/communications equipment at HMAS Harman, Canberra. This fixed-term role requires a senior technician with hands-on experience and the ability to work independently after training.

Responsibilities include on- and off-site maintenance, configuration management support, warehouse and spares coordination, and ensuring ITAR compliance. NV-1 security clearance eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Trade Certificate III or IV in Communications or Electronic Engineering.
• Senior technician will have at least three years relevant experience post-qualification.
• Knowledge of terrestrial or Satellite Communications Systems.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain NV-1 Security clearance.

• Provision of Configuration Management support to selected mission systems.
• Provision of warehouse and supply support activities for breakdown spares and test equipment.

We are seeking applicants who are passionate to provide exceptional maintenance support to ADF satellite communication systems on a fixed-term basis.

As a Field Technician you will provide operational maintenance support of SATCOM terminals and rack-based RF / communications equipment based at HMAS Harman. We are after a senior technician and will provide complete system specific training to enable the applicant to work independently immediately.

Key Responsibilities

• Provision of specialist on and off-site maintenance services to SATCOM SPO assets
• Provision of Configuration Management support to selected mission systems
• Provision of warehouse and supply support activities for Breakdown Spares, Repairable Items and Support and Test Equipment
• Ensure compliance with governance and ITAR obligations
• Produce routine equipment maintenance reports
• Maintain strong customer relations and participate as a rostered member of the 24 x 7 x 365 on-call team

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

• Trade Certificate III or IV in Communications or Electronic Engineering
• Senior technician will have at least three years relevant experience post-qualification
• Knowledge of and experience with terrestrial or Satellite Communications Systems
• Proficient in Microsoft office tools, especially Excel
