Job summary

RTX (Raytheon) is seeking a Field Technician to provide operational maintenance support for SATCOM terminals and rack-based RF equipment at HMAS Harman, Canberra. This role is on-site and requires senior technical expertise, with training provided to enable independent work.

The successful candidate will have a Trade Certificate IV in Communications or Electronic Engineering, at least three years of post-qualification experience, and eligibility for NV-1 security clearance.

Qualifications

• Experience with SATCOM or satellite communications systems is essential.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.
• Able to operate in a defence environment and maintain security clearances as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site and off-site maintenance for SATCOM SPO assets.
• Support configuration management for mission systems.
• Assist with warehouse and supply activities for spares and test equipment.
• Ensure governance and ITAR compliance in all tasks.
• Prepare routine maintenance reports and logs.
• Be a rostered member of 24/7 on-call support.

We are seeking applicants who are passionate to provide exceptional maintenance support to ADF satellite communication systems on a fixed-term basis.

As a Field Technician you will provide operational maintenance support of SATCOM terminals and rack-based RF / communications equipment based at HMAS Harman. We are after a senior technician and will provide complete system specific training to enable the applicant to work independently immediately.

Key Responsibilities

• Provision of specialist on and off-site maintenance services to SATCOM SPO assets
• Provision of Configuration Management support to selected mission systems
• Provision of warehouse and supply support activities for Breakdown Spares, Repairable Items and Support and Test Equipment
• Ensure compliance with governance and ITAR obligations
• Produce routine equipment maintenance reports
• Maintain strong customer relations and participate as a rostered member of the 24 x 7 x 365 on-call team

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• Trade Certificate III or IV in Communications or Electronic Engineering
• Senior technician will have at least three years relevant experience post-qualification
• Knowledge of and experience with terrestrial or Satellite Communications Systems
• Proficient in Microsoft office tools, especially Excel
