Job summary

RTX is seeking a senior Field Technician to deliver operational maintenance for SATCOM terminals and RF/communications gear at HMAS Harman, Canberra. The role includes on-site and off-site support, with training provided to work independently from day one.

You will join a team supporting Defence SATCOM assets, ensure governance compliance, and participate in a 24/7 on-call roster, with the security clearance requirement as applicable.

Qualifications

• Trade Certificate III/IV in Communications or Electronic Engineering.
• Senior technician with at least 3 years post-qualification experience.
• Knowledge/experience with terrestrial or Satellite Communications Systems.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain NV-1 Security clearance as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site and off-site maintenance services to SATCOM SPO assets.
• Provide Configuration Management support to selected mission systems.
• Provide warehouse and supply support for breakdown spares, repairable items and test equipment.
• Ensure compliance with governance and ITAR obligations.
• Produce routine equipment maintenance reports.
• Maintain strong customer relations and participate in 24x7x365 on-call roster.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• Trade Certificate III or IV in Communications or Electronic Engineering
• Senior technician will have at least three years relevant experience post-qualification
• Knowledge of and experience with terrestrial or Satellite Communications Systems
• Proficient in Microsoft office tools, especially Excel
• Successful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a NV-1 Security clearance as needed.
