Job summary

Commonwealth Bank is seeking a Senior Manager Regulatory Engagement within the RBS Compliance team in Sydney. You will work closely with the business and regulators to guide regulatory engagement across ASIC, AFCA, AFSA and other bodies, ensuring timely and accurate submissions and practical risk-based advice.

You will coordinate multi-functional teams, interpret regulatory expectations, and support remediation activities while upholding CBA values of Care, Courage and Commitment.

Qualifications

• Experience in regulatory engagement, regulatory affairs, compliance or risk management, preferably in banking or a regulated environment.
• Strong understanding of Australian financial services regulation and experience preparing submissions for regulators or senior executives.
• Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills to coordinate outcomes across Legal, Risk, Compliance, Product and operations teams.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills with ability to synthesize complex information and provide clear recommendations.
• Strong project management skills, prioritisation and attention to details with multiple sensitive matters and tight deadlines.
• Astute risk management capability and accountable decision-making under pressure.
• Demonstrates a role model for the CBA values: Care, Courage and Commitment.

Responsibilities

• Support development and execution of RBS regulatory engagement strategy, including regulatory intelligence and strategic advice to senior management.
• Lead and support complex regulatory engagements across ASIC, AFCA, AFSA, BCCC, ACCC and other bodies, including information requests and supervisory reviews.
• Coordinate cross-functional responses across RBS, other Business Units and Group functions within regulatory timeframes.
• Review and validate documents, data and input to ensure submissions are accurate, balanced and compliant.
• Provide practical regulatory compliance advice informed by RBS strategy, products, processes and customer impacts.
• Prepare regulator correspondence, executive briefs, committee papers and engagement packs.
• Identify emerging regulatory risks and independently manage multiple sensitive matters with senior stakeholders.
• Support cross-team forums to promote a coordinated approach to regulatory engagement across the Group.
• Draft compliance input for Risk and Compliance Committees and other reporting.
• Advocate for customer-focused business solutions.
• Assist business stakeholders with remediation activities.
• Contribute to efficient Compliance operations and continuous improvement.
