Job summary

upcover is seeking a Senior Regulatory and Compliance Manager to lead regulatory, compliance and risk for its broking and underwriting platforms in Australia. You will implement policies, monitor changes, manage audits, and coordinate risk reporting while embedding a culture of compliance across the business.

The role requires extensive experience in financial services regulation, strong communication with the board and founders, and the ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced insurtech

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years' experience in a compliance role within general insurance, insurance broking, or financial services
• Strong working knowledge of AFSL obligations, Corporations Act (Chapter 7), ASIC RGs, and insurance codes of practice
• Experience reviewing marketing materials and customer-facing content for regulatory compliance
• Experience developing and maintaining compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures
• Experience with breach management, regulatory reporting, and risk management frameworks

Responsibilities

• Lead regulatory, compliance and risk management for two business lines (broking and underwriting)
• Develop, implement and maintain compliance policies and controls
• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure ongoing compliance
• Prepare and lodge regulatory reports and notifications
• Coordinate risk management activities and maintain risk registers
• Oversee complaints handling and IDR processes in line with ASIC guidance
• Provide training and drive a culture of compliance across the business
