Job summary

Placements24 seeks a highly experienced Senior Compliance Officer to lead a remote-first organization, supporting operations nationwide from a base near Queenstown. You will develop and oversee a comprehensive compliance program, ensuring adherence to laws and industry standards while advising senior management.

The role demands in-depth regulatory knowledge, independent work style, and strong leadership to drive a culture of ethical governance and risk management across the company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Advanced degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CCEP) is a strong asset.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in compliance, risk management, or legal roles, preferably within a corporate environment.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing robust compliance programs.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant laws and regulations (e.g., POPIA, GDPR, industry-specific regulations).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the company's overall compliance program, including policies, procedures, and training.
• Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk.
• Investigate compliance issues, report findings, and recommend corrective actions.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors on compliance-related matters.
• Stay abreast of changes in relevant legislation and regulations, ensuring timely updates to compliance strategies.
• Provide guidance and training to employees on compliance requirements and best practices.
