Job summary

Torrens University Australia is seeking aSenior Compliance role to translate complex higher‑education regulation into practical processes. You’ll manage complaints, ensure records integrity and oversee regulatory responses, reporting to senior academic and operations leaders.

Based at one of our Australian campuses (Brisbane or other locations) with flexible arrangements. You’ll lead a small team and collaborate with Legal, Risk and Academic Services to uphold compliance standards.

Qualifications

• University background with senior experience in higher education.
• Strong knowledge of the ESOS Act and the National Code and ability to apply them to work processes.
• Working knowledge of TEQSA, ASQA, and the Higher Education Standards Framework; CRICOS and PRISMS familiarity.
• Proven experience turning regulatory requirements into policies, procedures and controls.
• Hands-on experience managing student complaints and appeals, including complex matters.
• Experience leading responses to external complaints, investigations or regulators.
• Experience overseeing the student lifecycle, including progression, records and completions.
• Experience in student wellbeing and safety, including gender-based violence compliance.
• Proven ability to lead a team and deliver results in a complex environment.
• Postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Turn regulation into practice by translating rules into clear policies and controls.
• Maintain ESOS, National Code, CRICOS and PRISMS knowledge and ensure compliance.
• Build a risk-based assurance framework for complaints, safety, and records.
• Identify regulatory changes early and adapt processes accordingly.
• Oversee complaints, appeals, misconduct and academic integrity matters.
• Lead responses to external complaints and regulator inquiries.
• Ensure procedural fairness, confidentiality and good record-keeping.
• Coordinate with Legal, Risk and Academic teams on regulator submissions.
• Provide oversight of student safety, wellbeing and gender-based violence compliance.
• Deliver audit-ready reporting on complaints, safety and completions.
