Job summary

Xero is seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer to shape and build the Xero Accounting App, our flagship mobile experience used by small businesses worldwide. You will lead complex features from idea to production, partnering with Product, Design, backend and platform teams to deliver high-quality experiences on React Native.

This role offers hands-on ownership, a focus on performance and reliability, and opportunities to mentor others while leveraging AI-assisted development to accelerate delivery

Qualifications

• Strong, demonstrable experience building and shipping production mobile applications using React Native.
• Ability to build mobile software at scale with emphasis on performance and reliability.
• Experience owning complex mobile features end to end.
• Experience with mobile backend systems, APIs or BFF patterns.
• Experience shipping software to large, active user bases.
• Pragmatic technical decisions balancing speed, impact and maintainability.
• Mentoring engineers and raising engineering standards.
• Active use of AI-assisted development, automation and modern tooling.

Responsibilities

• Ship meaningful customer value across React Native experiences including key workflows.
• Evolve our React Native architecture to enable faster, high-quality delivery.
• Operate at scale with availability, performance, security and incident response.
• Improve engineering efficiency with automation and AI-assisted development.
