Job summary

Bundaberg Regional Council is recruiting multiple Senior Project Managers or Project Managers to join the Project Delivery Team in the Infrastructure Operations and Delivery Department. The roles focus on delivering a diverse Capital Works Program across infrastructure and construction projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and on-time delivery.

One role emphasizes pre-construction planning and project development, while the other covers project development and delivery.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or QBCC licence.
• Diploma in Project Management or equivalent.
• Experience managing infrastructure, construction, or capital works projects.
• Experience in pre-construction activities including consultant engagement and design coordination.
• Ability to deliver projects within scope, budget, time, and risk parameters.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all phases of project delivery from scoping to close-out.
• Manage budgets, schedules, risks, resources, and quality requirements.
• Administer contracts and delegated contractual responsibilities.
• Prepare and maintain progress reports and performance metrics.
• Provide expert technical advice aligned with Council standards and policies.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders to enable project success.
• Contribute to PM framework, systems, and processes.

About The Opportunity

Council is seeking multiple Senior Project Managers or Project Managers to join the Project Delivery Team within the Infrastructure Operations and Delivery Department. These positions play a key role in the successful delivery of Council’s Capital Works Program, encompassing a diverse range of infrastructure and construction projects.

One position will have a strong focus on pre-construction planning and project development , while the other will focus on project development and project delivery . Both roles are responsible for managing significant projects throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring outcomes are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with agreed scope, time, cost, and quality objectives. Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and external agencies, you will provide leadership and technical expertise to support the successful delivery of Council’s infrastructure priorities.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Leading and coordinating all phases of project delivery, including project scoping, planning, design development, procurement, stakeholder engagement, construction delivery, and project close-out.
• Managing project budgets, schedules, risks, resources, and quality requirements to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Administering contracts and undertaking delegated contractual responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Preparing, monitoring, and maintaining project documentation, progress reports, and performance metrics.
• Providing expert technical advice and recommendations in accordance with Council standards, policies, and legislative requirements.
• Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate project success.
• Contributing to the development and continuous improvement of project management frameworks, systems, procedures, and processes.
• Supporting the delivery of Council’s strategic infrastructure objectives through a collaborative and customer-focused approach.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess a combination of technical expertise, project management capability, and stakeholder engagement skills, together with a proven ability to deliver complex infrastructure projects in a dynamic environment. To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a QBCC Site Supervisor Licence or QBCC Building Project Management Services Licence.
• A Diploma in Project Management or equivalent project management qualification.
• Demonstrated experience managing infrastructure, construction, or capital works projects through planning, design, procurement, and delivery phases.
• OR Extensive experience managing pre-construction activities, including consultant engagement, design coordination, approvals, and project development.
• Proven ability to deliver projects within established scope, budget, timeframe, quality, and risk parameters.
• Well-developed stakeholder engagement, negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
• Relevant construction industry licences and certifications.
• A current Queensland Class C Driver Licence (manual).

• Eligibility for Corporate Membership of Engineers Australia and/or registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) (Mandatory for Senior Project Manager)

The preferred candidate will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process.
