Job summary

Toowoomba Regional Council in Pittsworth is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead civil construction and maintenance projects.

You will provide expert technical advice, guide graduate engineers, and ensure delivery within time and budget while maintaining safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Civil) from a recognised University.
  • Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ), or ability to obtain RPEQ within 12 months of appointment.
  • WHS Competency (White Card) CPCWHS1001 or equivalent, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Extensive relevant experience in a civil construction environment, preferably in Local Government.
  • Understanding of Council’s Organisational Value and Behaviour of Accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of civil construction and maintenance projects.
  • Provide expert technical advice and develop work practices and procedures.
  • Mentor graduates, technical officers and engineering students on work experience.
  • Ensure safety, quality and environmental procedures are followed.
  • Report progress on time and financial performance.

As aSenior Engineer, you will lead the delivery ofcivil construction and maintenance projects across Council'sconstruction and maintenance projects. You'll provide experttechnical advice, consultative support and be involved in theinitiation and formulation of works programs which impact onCouncil’s goals and objectives.

What you'll do
  • Control and coordinatecivil construction and maintenance works programs.
  • Perform complexfunctions related to civil construction and maintenanceprojects.
  • Provide advice onpolicy matters and contribute to policydevelopment.
  • Provide experttechnical advice and develop work practices andprocedures.
  • Provide technicalguidance and mentoring to graduate engineers, technicalofficers and engineering students undertaking workexperience.
  • Provide excellentcustomer service with the ability to provide accurate andtimely advice.
  • Reporton progress of programs and projects, particularly relating totime and financial performance.
  • Actively contributeand be responsible for the development and implementation ofnew techniques, practices and methodologies through technologyand innovation opportunities.
  • Workin accordance with the approved safety, quality andenvironmental procedures and policies.

What you'll bring
