Job summary

Gough Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major development in Melbourne. You will take overall responsibility for project outcomes and maintain a hands-on approach across design, procurement and construction.

You\'ll manage the programme, budget and quality, coordinate the project and site teams, and work closely with the commercial and client teams to deliver on time and within scope.

Our client is an established Tier 2 builder with a strong track record delivering major construction projects across Australia.

They are currently growing their Melbourne office, backed by a strong project pipeline and ambitious plans for the Victorian market. This presents an excellent opportunity to join the business during an exciting period of growth and play a key role within their expanding Melbourne team.

They are now looking to appoint an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major $150million+ development.

About the Role:

As Senior Project Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the project, leading the project team while remaining highly hands-on across the day-to-day delivery.

This is not a purely high-level management position. The successful candidate will be comfortable getting into the detail across programme, design, procurement, commercial, subcontractor and construction matters while driving the project through to successful completion.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the project from delivery through to completion
• Managing programme, budget, quality and project outcomes
• Taking a hands-on approach to day-to-day project delivery
• Leading and coordinating the project and site teams
• Managing consultants, subcontractors and key stakeholders
• Overseeing procurement and major trade packages
• Driving design coordination and resolving project issues
• Working closely with the commercial team across cost and contractual matters
• Managing client relationships and project reporting
• Identifying and mitigating programme and delivery risks
• Maintaining high standards across safety, quality and construction

Job Requirements:

To be considered for the role, you will ideally have:

• 10+ years' experience within the construction industry
• Significant experience as a Project Manager / Senior Project Manager
• Strong experience with a recognised Tier 1 or Tier 2 builder
• Experience delivering major projects valued at $100 million+
• Ideally, experience across apartments, hotels, student accommodation or similar large-scale developments
• A genuinely hands-on approach with the ability to get into the detail of project delivery
• Strong knowledge across programme, design, procurement, commercial and construction
• Proven ability to lead large project teams and subcontractors
• Strong client and stakeholder management skills
• Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving capabilities
• Relevant construction, engineering or building qualifications
• Lead the delivery of a major $150million+ development
