Job summary

Montgomery Advisory, based in Sydney, seeks a lead project lawyer to protect and maximise the company’s commercial interests across all stages of a billion-dollar infrastructure project. You will work closely with and be supported by the General Counsel while delivering practical legal advice and commercial insights.

The role focuses on project delivery, contract review and negotiation, dispute management, and training the project team, requiring autonomous work and strong problem-solving

Qualifications

• 7–10 years post-admission experience in construction law.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to simplify complex legal issues and communicate clearly to diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Join an ASX listed company on the rise. You will be lead lawyer to deliver a billion dollar infrastructure project, based in Sydney.

The legal team plays a critical role in supporting the company’s diverse projects by delivering expert legal advice and commercial insights. You will work closely with, and have the support of the General Counsel.

The Role

As the project lawyer, the successful candidate will be responsible for protecting and maximising the company's commercial interests across all stages of the project. Key responsibilities include:

• Providing practical legal advice on project delivery matters
• Reviewing and negotiating a broad range of project related contracts
• Supporting project teams on claim management, disputes and commercial risk management
• Delivering legal training, coaching, and team induction sessions to to the project team.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be a hard-working, thorough lawyer with between 7-10 years of post-admission experience in construction law. In addition, you will also have:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail
• The ability to simplify complex legal issues and communicate clearly to diverse stakeholders
• Proven ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines
• Strong problem-solving capabilities
