Job summary

CRISDALE RECRUITMENT GROUP is seeking a Senior Project Engineer for our Major Capital Projects team in the Pilbara region. You will own and deliver major civil and infrastructure works—from planning through commissioning—balancing time, cost and quality within a local government framework.

You will report to the Executive Manager MCP, manage high-value projects, and help lift team capability by developing systems, tools and processes that improve outcomes. WA driver’s licence is required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in project management of civil or infrastructure projects.
• Strong contract management experience with consultants and contractors.
• Ability to interpret and explain complex engineering drawings.
• Sound knowledge of local government infrastructure and delivery environments.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Competent use of Microsoft Office and relevant engineering/project software.
• Current WA 'C' Class Driver's Licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full project lifecycle for allocated Major Capital Projects (planning, design, procurement, delivery and commissioning).
• Undertake technical assessments, prepare business cases, and review complex engineering drawings and specifications.
• Develop high-quality project documentation including delivery plans, risk management plans, stakeholder engagement plans and procurement strategies.
• Manage consultants and contractors through the Shire's procurement processes, including tender evaluation and contract administration.
• Provide clear technical advice and ensure strong project governance, reporting and commercial management.
• Proactively identify and mitigate project and organisational risks.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous improvement across the MCP function.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external regulators, consultants and contractors.
• Ensure all projects are delivered safely, sustainably and with consideration for long-term operations and maintenance.

Senior Project Engineer – Major Capital Projects

This Pilbara Shire is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our Major Capital Projects (MCP) team. You'll take ownership of significant capital works across roads, bridges, buildings, land development, water and wastewater infrastructure — delivering projects from inception through to commissioning while balancing time, cost and quality.

About the role

Reporting to the Executive Manager Major Capital Projects, you will manage technically complex, high-value projects with multiple stakeholders. You'll also play a key role in lifting the team's capability by developing systems, tools and processes that drive better project outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the full project lifecycle for allocated Major Capital Projects (planning, design, procurement, delivery and commissioning)

Experience:

• Proven experience in project management of civil or infrastructure projects (local government experience highly regarded)
• Strong contract management experience with consultants and contractors
• The ability to interpret and explain complex engineering drawings
• Sound knowledge of local government infrastructure and delivery environments
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills
• Strong self-management, organisational and time-management abilities
• Competent use of Microsoft Office and relevant engineering/project software
• Current WA 'C' Class Driver's Licence

Desirable:

• Minimum 5 - 10 years' experience in Civil Engineering, Project Management or Contract Management
• Previous local government or public sector project experience
• Exposure to financial and budget management
• Postgraduate qualifications in engineering, project management or related fields
• Eligibility for membership of Engineers Australia
