Job summary

Westpac is seeking a Senior Product Owner, Data & Intelligence, Protect.AI to lead a cross-functional squad delivering data-driven, intelligence-led capabilities that strengthen customer protection and risk management.

You will own the backlog, set priorities, and turn strategic priorities into measurable outcomes. You will guide data scientists, AI engineers, and delivery specialists, partnering with Architecture, Risk and Technology to drive secure, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

Strong Product Ownership and Agile delivery experience, with Financial Protection domain experience.
Proven track record managing complex backlogs and delivering squad outcomes.
Experience leading cross-functional teams through discovery, prioritisation and delivery.
Hands-on delivery of data, analytics, AI-enabled capabilities.

Responsibilities

Own your squad’s backlog, delivery priorities and end-to-end value outcomes.
Translate strategic priorities into executable epics, features and user stories.
Lead discovery and identify the right problems to solve with evidence and stakeholder input.
Guide a multidisciplinary squad of data scientists, AI engineers, data engineers and delivery specialists.
Partner with Architecture, Risk, Technology and business stakeholders to shape secure, scalable solutions.
Define acceptance criteria and ensure work delivers measurable outcomes.
Navigate dependencies and delivery risks with clear trade‑offs.
Embed fraud and financial crime considerations into product decisions.
Drive adoption so capabilities translate into business value.
