The Department of Justice and Community Safety in Melbourne is recruiting for two full-time VPS4 policy roles within Youth Justice. You will contribute to the development, review and maintenance of operational policies and procedures to ensure they provide contemporary, evidence-based and practical guidance for staff.

You will interpret legislation and policy, support implementation of Youth Justice reforms, and work with subject matter experts to create legally sound, user-friendly guidance

Qualifications

• Experience developing or reviewing policy in government or justice sector.
• Ability to interpret legislation and apply requirements to policy work.
• Experience with human rights assessments or legal compliance is desirable.
• Strong research and analytical skills to synthesize evidence and best practices.
• Excellent written communication for briefs and reports.

Responsabilités

• Develop, review and maintain operational policies and procedures.
• Assist with implementation of Youth Justice legislation, policy and reforms.
• Ensure compliance with Youth Justice Act and other legislation.
• Collaborate with staff and stakeholders to create practical guidance.
• Travel to custodial precincts and community offices as required.
