Job summary

Aurec is seeking a Senior PMO Analyst/Controller for the Melbourne area to mature project governance within the energy/utility/construction sector. The role focuses on designing and enforcing an end-to-end governance framework and transitioning operations to a structured environment.

Hybrid working with three days in Melbourne CBD; 6-month contract at a daily rate of $850 including SUPER. The work offers exposure to Altis and centralised resource planning to improve portfolio delivery.

Qualifications

• Senior PMO Analyst/Controller with experience in Energy/Utility/Construction.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute a comprehensive project governance framework, ensuring full adoption across the delivery team.
• Formulate and mandate strict phase-gate processes and criteria to control all project lifecycles.
• Evaluate existing project management methodologies and identify capability gaps to deliver targeted coaching and upskilling for Project Managers.
• Design, automate, and standardise project reporting mechanisms to guarantee consistent and repeatable performance tracking.
• Author clear project management standards, operational manuals, and quick-reference documentation.
• Define the roadmap and schedules for rolling out new reporting structures and governance protocols.
• Utilise enterprise project portfolio management software (Altis) to centralise resource management and enforce delivery standards.
• Establish a rigorous framework for conducting regular project health checks to ensure ongoing compliance and risk mitigation.

ROLE OVERVIEW

This Senior PMO Analyst/Controller position is dedicated to maturing project delivery capabilities within the construction sector. The core objective is to design, implement, and enforce an end-to-end project governance framework. You will transition current operations into a structured environment by defining strict standards, establishing stage-gate controls, and leveraging project management tooling to drive central resource planning and continuous improvement across the portfolio.

MORE ABOUT YOU

Proven experience as a PMO Controller, PMO Analyst or similar role within the Energy/Utility/Construction industry.

Demonstrated success in designing and fully implementing end-to-end project governance structures.

Strong analytical capability to critique current-state processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Direct experience in mentoring, coaching, or formally educating Project Managers to elevate overall delivery standards.

Expertise in configuring and extracting value from project management tools (Altis experience is preferred) for resource allocation and reporting.

Technical proficiency in creating scalable, repeatable reporting dashboards and governance metrics.

Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to enforce compliance with new standards, frameworks, and gating processes.
