Job summary

Ambition Recruitment is seeking a Senior PMO Analyst to join our portfolio management function in Sydney. This role governs the whole-of-portfolio change slate, delivering strategic insight to senior leadership and maintaining rigorous project controls across change programmes.

You will partner with senior stakeholders to produce data-led reporting, track roadmaps, and support prioritisation. You will oversee capacity planning, budgeting, and governance across Waterfall and Agile streams,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of PMO or project delivery experience.
• Strong Excel skills with advanced formulas and pivots.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, SharePoint and Power BI dashboards.
• Confident in presenting to senior management and upholding governance discipline.
• Financial services/banking experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Partner with senior stakeholders and governance committees to deliver data-led reporting and support prioritisation.
• Maintain capacity planning and forecast staffing across project teams.
• Track budgets, headcount, burn rates and actuals for financial reporting and cost control.
• Guard the change delivery framework across Waterfall and Agile streams; manage risks and issues.
• Mentor juniors and refine PMO methodologies to drive efficiencies.

I have a fantastic Senior PMO Analyst opportunity to join a key portfolio management function. This role plays a critical part in governing the whole-of-portfolio change slate, delivering strategic insight to senior leadership, and maintaining rigorous project controls across our change programmes.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with senior stakeholders and the Portfolio Governance Committee (PGC) to deliver data-led reporting, track pipeline roadmaps, and support project prioritisation.
• Maintain forward-looking capacity planning, manage resource contention, and forecast staffing across project teams.
• Track portfolio budgets, headcount, burn rates, and actuals to ensure accurate financial reporting and prevent cost overruns.
• Safeguard the change delivery framework across Waterfall and Agile streams, govern gate approvals, and manage portfolio-level risks and issues.
• Mentor junior team members, refine PMO methodologies, and drive operational efficiencies.

Key Requirements

• 5+ years of experience within a PMO or project delivery environment; past Project Management experience is highly regarded.
• Strong intermediate to advanced Excel skills, strong operational ability with complex formulas (e.g., XLOOKUP, nested logic) and pivot tables to manage detailed financial and resource data.
• Practical experience with Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, and Power BI dashboards.
• Confident communication skills with the gravitas to present to senior management and drive governance discipline.
• Financial services / investment / banking experience is advantageous / desirable.
