Job summary

The University of Western Australia is seeking an experienced plumbing supervisor to maintain and improve plumbing infrastructure across the campus. You will lead preventative and reactive maintenance, supervise external contractors and provide technical guidance to a diverse set of stakeholders.

Applicants should hold a plumbing trade qualification with a current Plumbing licence and a Gas licence (Type G).

Qualifications

• Trade or technical plumbing qualifications with a Plumbing licence and Gas licence type ‘G’.
• Substantial experience in preventative and reactive plumbing maintenance, repairs and minor projects in a complex environment.
• High-level supervisory experience coordinating contractors and providing guidance within a trades environment.
• Knowledge of current plumbing regulations and best practices.
• Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills with stakeholder relationship abilities.

About the opportunity

• Provide expert technical advice on design, construction, testing and maintenance of UWA’s plumbing infrastructure while delivering preventative and reactive maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable and compliant operations.
• Lead investigations, fault finding, repairs and minor project works, including developing scopes of works and cost estimates, while coordinating and supervising external plumbing contractors and service providers.
• Contribute to maintenance strategies, quality assurance initiatives, asset condition assessments and continuous improvement activities, while providing advice to stakeholders and supporting best‑practice plumbing operations across the University's diverse campus environment.

About you

• Trade or technical plumbing qualifications together with a Plumbing license and Gas license type ‘G’.
• Substantial experience delivering preventative and reactive pluming maintenance, repairs and minor project work within a complex operational environment.
• High‑level relevant supervisory experience with the ability to coordinate contractors, provide technical guidance and support others within a trade or technical environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of current plumbing regulations, compliance requirements and industry best‑practice.
• Excellent organisational, communication and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to prioritise work, work independently and build effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Experience in the maintenance/restoration of buildings with historical significance is desirable.

Note

As part of the recruitment process, candidates will be required to complete declarations in accordance with the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender‑based Violence.

A current National Police Clearance, “C” class driver’s licence, Senior First Aid Certificate and High‑Risk Work Licence will be required by the successful applicant.

Gas Servicing and Backflow Licence is highly desirable. This role also requires participation in an on‑call roster and occasional weekend work.
