Job summary

The University of Western Australia is seeking a Space Planning professional to coordinate campus space planning projects and manage space data. You will develop floor plans, maintain CAD records and support decision-making across the University’s property portfolio.

Experience in Archibus or similar tools, strong communication skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders are essential for delivering practical space solutions and ensuring standards compliance.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Architectural Drafting, Interior Design, or equivalent qualification and experience.
• Experience in space planning, facilities planning, workplace planning, or similar.
• Proficiency in CAD, Archibus or similar space management tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Highly organised with ability to prioritise and work independently.

About the area

Campus Management is responsible for planning, developing and managing the University’s campus and property portfolio to support teaching, research and campus life. Working within Estate, Planning, Design and Governance, the Campus Space team plays a critical role in ensuring spaces across the University are planned, managed and utilised effectively to support a dynamic and growing campus community.

About the opportunity

• Coordinate campus space planning projects, manage space requests and space ticketing process, conduct space audits, assess occupancy requirements, and work closely with stakeholders to deliver practical and effective space solutions.
• Develop and maintain accurate floor plans, site drawings, CAD records and space utilisation data, prepare test fits and layout drawings, and support informed decision-making across the University’s property portfolio.
• Manage and enhance space management systems and databases, including Archibus, CAD and space planning tools, while ensuring compliance with University space standards, occupancy requirements and design guidelines.

About you

• Diploma in Architectural Drafting, Interior Design, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience in space planning, facilities planning, workplace planning, architectural drafting, interior design, or a similar environment, including the preparation and interpretation of floor plans, layouts and technical drawings.
• Strong proficiency in CAD software, Archibus or similar space management databases and digital drawing systems, with experience maintaining accurate spatial and asset information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build productive relationships, facilitate consultations and capture requirements from a diverse range of users.
• Highly organised with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise competing demands, use initiative, and deliver outcomes independently and as part of a team.
