Job summary

Westgold Resources Limited is seeking a Senior Planning Engineer to lead the safe and efficient extraction of gold in Western Australia. You will head a team of mining engineers to develop medium and long-term mine plans supporting safe production and life-of-mine optimisation.

The role involves mentoring engineers, overseeing planning schedules and budgets, and applying Deswik CAD/IS/Sched and Ventsim to optimise design and productivity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in mining engineering or equivalent.
• First Class Mine Manager's Certificate or actively working towards it.
• Proficiency in Deswik CAD, Deswik IS, Deswik Sched, and Ventsim; strong MS Office skills.
• Experience in mine planning across short, medium and long-term horizons.
• Development design, stope design, sequencing and optimisation expertise.

Responsibilities

• Champion safety culture and ensure site procedures are followed.
• Develop and deliver medium- and long-term mine plans.
• Complete development designs, stope notes and level extraction plans.
• Manage planning schedules, forecasts and underground budgets.
• Review geotechnical recommendations and ensure site standards compliance.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and optimise life-of-mine plans.
• Coach and mentor Planning Engineers and Graduate Engineers.

Westgold Resources is seeking a Senior Planning Engineer to lead the safe and efficient extraction of gold at our Operations.
Reporting to the Alternate Underground Manager, this pivotal role will lead a team of mining engineers in developing medium & long-term mine plans and designs that support the safe production, optimise life-of-mine performance, and drive operational success.

Key Responsibilities

• Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with site procedures.
• Develop and deliver strategic, medium and long-term mine plans.
• Complete development designs, stope notes and level extraction plans
• Manage planning schedules, forecasts and underground budgets.
• Review geotechnical recommendations and ensure compliance with site standards.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and support life-of-mine optimisation.
• Foster a high-performance culture by actively coaching, mentoring, engaging with, and providing feedback to Planning Engineers and Graduate Engineers.
• Support daily underground operations and contribute to the achievement of production targets through sound engineering practices.
• Support the Mining Manager/Alternate with operational, technical, and statutory responsibilities

About You:

• Strong proficiency in mining software, including Deswik CAD, Deswik IS, Deswik Sched Ventsim, as well as Microsoft Office Suite of products.
• Strong capability in development design, stope design, sequencing, and optimisation to aid design for productivity.
• Strong experience in mine planning across short, medium and long-term horizons.
• Bachelor of Mining Engineering (or equivalent)
• First Class Mine Manager's Certificate (or actively working towards it)
