Job summary

Ambition Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to lead end‑to‑end fortnightly payroll for 1000+ staff in Chatswood, NSW. You will mentor a payroll team of three, address complex queries and ensure compliance with awards, legislation and tax rules using Dayforce.

The role offers hybrid work (2 days WFH), ongoing development and a supportive leadership team. This is a permanent opportunity with long‑term career potential in a growing organisation.

Qualifications

• Extensive Australian payroll experience with end-to-end knowledge.
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, Awards, Enterprise Agreements and compliance.
• Experience with Dayforce is highly regarded.
• Demonstrated process improvement and systems optimisation experience.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end fortnightly payroll processing for 1000+ employees.
• Manage, mentor and develop a payroll team of 3.
• Act as escalation point for complex payroll queries and matters.
• Ensure compliance with Fair Work legislation, Awards, Enterprise Agreements, Superannuation and Taxation obligations.
• Oversee payroll audits, reconciliations, controls and reporting.
• Coordinate annual remuneration review processes.
• Own payroll systems, data integrity across HR and finance systems.
• Drive process improvements, automation and efficiencies.
• Lead payroll system upgrades, testing and enhancements.
• Partner with Finance, IT and People & Culture stakeholders to improve payroll outcomes.
• Maintain a high level of payroll service delivery and customer support.

THE ROLE
