Job summary

Ambition Recruitment is seeking a Senior Payroll Officer in Chatswood to own end‑to‑end fortnightly payroll processing with iChris. This newly created role focuses on driving process improvements and ensuring payroll compliance for complex awards.

You will work hybrid, 3 days in office and 2 from home, with a highly collaborative team and strong opportunities for progression toward payroll projects and leadership.

Qualifications

• Senior payroll officer looking to step into projects and process improvements.
• Experience with iChris and UKG Kronos is highly desired.
• Strong understanding of Awards and payroll compliance.

Responsibilities

• End‑to‑end fortnightly payroll processing using iChris.
• Month‑end payroll accounting and reconciliations.
• Responding to payroll queries and liaising with internal stakeholders.
• Identifying and implementing process improvements.
• Support payroll projects, testing, UAT and rollouts.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance and operations.

THE ROLE

Key responsibilities include:

• End‑to‑end fortnightly payroll processing using iChris
• Month‑end payroll accounting and reconciliations
• Responding to payroll queries and liaising with internal stakeholders
• Identifying and implementing process improvements
• Confidently challenging processes with curiosity while maintaining BAU
• Supporting payroll projects, testing, UAT and process improvement initiatives
• Working closely with HR, Finance and operational stakeholders
• Identifying opportunities to automate and streamline payroll workflows
• Award and Enterprise Agreement interpretation
• Complex payroll calculations, back pays and adjustments

THE PERSON

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Currently in a Senior Payroll Officer looking to step up your career to be more involved in Projects and process improvements
• iChris & Kronos / UKG experience highly desired
• Excellent communication skills, integrity and professionalism
• Strong understanding of Awards and Enterprise Agreements and payroll compliance
• Positive, proactive and collaborative approach
• Experience with payroll projects, implementations highly desired
