Job summary

Optus is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to design, develop, and enhance OSS Assurance systems, both off the shelf and in-house. You will translate business needs into robust software using Java/Groovy, lead teams, and coordinate with vendors to ensure quality and timely delivery.

The role requires deep hands-on engineering across databases, NiFi, Kafka, Camunda, and Drools, with strong integration experience and cloud/container skills.

Qualifications

• 10-15 years IT experience with hands-on software engineering.
• Experience with TeMIP adapter coding, IBM Netcool, OpenNMS SNMP manager, Nokia Assurance Centre Fault/Performance Management.
• High-level proficiency in Java and Groovy, with enterprise-scale systems design.
• Strong DB skills across relational, NoSQL, and graph databases.
• Strong NiFi and Kafka development and integration skills.
• Experience with Camunda and Drools BPMN modelling.
• Broad exposure across Linux/Windows, Docker/Kubernetes, and integration tech.
• Proven experience managing vendors or offshore development teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage demands from Optus network for assurance integration and project timelines.
• Translate high-level designs into detailed component-level designs for software implementations.
• Guide and review vendor deliverables to meet Optus standards and code quality.
• Lead and mentor small teams of in-house and vendor developers.
• Own alarms plans and configurations for network function restoration and incident review.
• Provide L3 OSS Operations support including code/config fixes.
• Manage source code, build pipelines, and deployment tools.
