Job summary

Equifax in Sydney, NSW, AU is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to drive Site Reliability Engineering practices and IaC-driven infrastructure modernization across Australia and New Zealand.

You will lead automation for virtual appliances, resolve major incidents, and align infrastructure with cloud-native and DevOps frameworks, partnering with architecture and security teams to deliver reliable, scalable networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in infrastructure architecture or senior systems engineering across cloud and on-prem environments.
• 3+ years of practical experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
• 5+ years of practical experience with network, both on-premise and in the cloud.
• Demonstrated experience implementing automation for virtual appliances (firewalls, load balancers, or virtual routers).
• Hands-on experience performing deep technical troubleshooting and major incident resolution.

Responsibilities

• Champion the Network team's evolution towards Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, cloud-native operations, and IaC.
• Identify opportunities to implement automated solutions for virtualised appliances (firewalls, load balancers, virtual routers).
• Serve as a senior escalation point for major incident resolution and root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with Technical Architecture to integrate infrastructure requirements into enterprise roadmaps.
• Support regional data centre decommissioning projects (including NZ sites) and hybrid cloud migrations.
• Evaluate infrastructure against reliability, availability, and performance objectives to drive continuous improvement.
