Job summary

Westpac is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join the Secure Network Services team in the Technology division. You will work with customer engagement, architecture, and run teams to implement, operate and support high-performance infrastructure.

Core duties include leading network operations, incident management, change planning and stakeholder collaboration. Role requires 5+ years of hands-on networking, CCNP/CCIE or equivalent, and strong exposure to VxLAN EVPN, cloud networking, and

Qualifications

• Strong technical knowledge of Cisco Routing and Switching (BGP, OSPF, STP, NXOS, N9K).
• Strong technical knowledge of DNS, DHCP and IPAM – Infoblox.
• In-depth networking experience – 5+ years.
• On-call responsibility on a periodic roster.
• Strong WAN routing knowledge and hands-on troubleshooting (ISP) networks.
• Strong knowledge in VxLAN EVPN or related overlay technology.
• Understanding of Cloud networking Azure/AWS.
• Good understanding of Automation platforms (Python, PyATS, Jenkins, ROBOT Framework).
• Good understanding of Orchestration platforms (NDFC, DCNM).
• CCNP or CCIE certification.
• Strong knowledge of Firewalls (Juniper SRX, CheckPoint, Fortinet, NSX).

Responsibilities

• Lead the operations and provide troubleshooting on all networked services and devices.
• Participate in Major Incident Management, identifying performance issues and trends.
• Coordinate resolution with IT groups across systems and platforms.
• Monitor alarms, open tickets, diagnose issues, and escalate as needed.
• Provide detailed design and technical review of network changes.
• Develop relationships with stakeholders as the key technical contact.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure designs meet networking standards.
• Draft and co-ordinate change implementation plans.

Job description

What's the role?

We offer an exciting opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer within the Secure Network Services (SNS) team within the Technology division. This position will work closely with the customer engagement team, network architecture team, engineering, build and run teams. This position is responsible for providing expert technical services in relation to implementing, managing, operating and supporting high performance technology infrastructure. The core responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

Network Operations (Run Role)

• Lead the operations and provide troubleshooting and analyse technical problems on all types of networked services, equipment, and devices in the environment.
• Participates in Major Incident Management activities, identifying network performance issues and trends. (e.g., Identifies failing network components, tracing of network traffic).
• Coordinates resolution activities with IT groups across systems and platforms (e.g. Firewall Team), so they occur in sync
• Monitors alarms, opens corresponding tickets, diagnoses, resolves, documents the issue, takes escalations from junior engineers and escalates as needed.
• Provide detailed design and technical review of network changes, including the troubleshooting of any network related issues.
• Develop and influence relationships with all stakeholders, acting as the key point of contact for Technical Consultations to ensure customer requirements are understood and outcomes delivered meet the needs of the customer.
• Collaborate extensively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure solution designs meet networking standards.

What do I need?
