Job summary

Optus Network Engineering is seeking talented software engineers to build and operate automation and observability platforms powering Australia’s largest network. You’ll lead design decisions, mentor teammates, and collaborate with cross-functional groups to translate operational needs into scalable tech solutions.

You will shape end-to-end architecture, drive production initiatives, and participate in on-call rotation for critical systems, while enjoying flexible hybrid work options and strong

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years building and shipping production software, preferably using Go and Python in complex tech environments.
• Hands-on experience with Linux environments, event streaming platforms and real-time data processing.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and architecture of scalable automation and observability platforms at national telco scale.
• Drive technical initiatives from concept to production with a balance of performance and reliability.
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with network engineers, product teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Solve complex problems across the full stack from streaming data to AI-powered automation.
• Establish engineering best practices and introduce new technologies to boost efficiency.
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response for production systems.
