Job summary

carsales in Australia is seeking a capable backend engineer to join Core Services, building scalable services that connect consumer and dealer experiences across the carsales ecosystem. You’ll own services end-to-end, ship to production, and mentor teammates.

This role emphasises modern Agile practices, cloud operations (AWS), data storage with SQL, and collaboration with product, design and research to deliver high-quality, resilient systems.

Qualifications

• Strong C#/.NET backend experience with cloud exposure.
• End-to-end ownership across the full software lifecycle.
• Solid SQL and data storage across relational/non-relational systems.
• Ability to mentor and lift team standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan, build and support software that scales with the business.
• Drive technical implementation of complex projects with cross-functional teams.
• Own lifecycle of services from code to production and post-deploy support.
• Shape requirements with product managers to unlock business value.
• Practice strong engineering disciplines including code reviews, testing and CI/CD.
• Mentor engineers and uphold high standards across the team.
• Collaborate with product, design and researchers to shape culture.
