Job summary

carsales is seeking a Backend Engineer for Core Services in Australia. You will help evolve listing and inventory flows, supporting services, and data exchange to enable key customer journeys across the carsales ecosystem.

You’ll work across multiple engineering and product teams in a hybrid model, balancing remote work with in-person collaboration. The role emphasizes strong C#/.NET backend skills, cloud experience (AWS), and ownership of the full software lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Strong C#/.NET back-end engineering
• Cloud build-and-run experience, ideally AWS
• End-to-end ownership across the SDLC
• Adaptable fast learner with varied background
• Solid SQL and data storage skills (relational and non-relational)
• Commitment to engineering best practices and collaboration with teams

Responsibilities

• Plan, build and support software delivering quality at scale
• Drive the technical implementation of complex projects
• Own the lifecycle of services from development to production
• Shape requirements with product managers for business value
• Engage in code review, testing, and build processes
• Mentor engineers and raise standards across the team
• Foster trust and collaboration with PMs, engineers, researchers and designers
