Job summary

Trendspek Pty Limited is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to own the engine room of the platform, a multi-tenant SaaS built on Laravel, MySQL and Postgres. You’ll shape architecture, review code, and guide offshore engineers to raise the bar for backend design and delivery.

You’ll work on API modernization, multi-tenant data architecture, security-by-design, migrations, CI/CD and observability, in a hybrid setup from Haymarket, Sydney.

Qualifications

• Proven backend development in PHP and Laravel.
• Experience designing scalable REST APIs for a real product.
• Strong database design and migrations for multi-tenant SaaS.
• Security-first mindset and test-driven development.

Responsibilities

• Move legacy server-rendered views to clean, well-tested APIs.
• Design multi-tenant data architecture for scale and performance.
• Ensure security and privacy by default: auth, PII handling, pen-test fixes.
• Manage migrations, rollbacks and CI/CD workflows.
• Improve observability to catch issues before customers notice.
• Shape data and API layers for AI insights and products.
