Job summary

Fortescue in Perth, WA is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to join the Medium-Term Planning team. The role covers coordinating 2 Year Mining Schedules and supporting pit, waste, and development designs at Christmas Creek mine site.

You will work with Approvals, Geology, Geotechnical and Hydrogeology to identify risks and opportunities, mentor planning engineers, and deliver plans on time with strong stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Extensive experience in mine planning.
• Proficiency with Vulcan, Haul Infinity and Rapid Reserver.
• Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills.
• High level of computer literacy (Excel and MS Office).
• Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
• Collaborative team player with initiative and minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Develop two-year mine plans that align with operational and strategic requirements.
• Deliver mine plans and schedules accurately and within agreed timelines.
• Coordinate approvals, geology, geotechnical and hydrogeology teams to identify risks and opportunities.
• Coordinate stakeholders and resources across mine development projects to meet milestones.
• Communicate mine planning options, designs and schedules to operational and technical stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance on pit progression, waste schedules, fleet requirements and cost estimates.
• Identify risks and opportunities within mine planning outputs and recommend actions.
• Mentor and develop Mine Planning Engineers.
