Job summary

Brunel is seeking a Senior Application Specialist or Applications Team Lead to provide senior technical support for mining applications and ownership across operational data platforms. The role combines hands-on troubleshooting with opportunities to mentor and guide a team of Application Specialists.

The successful candidate will coordinate priorities, work with stakeholders and vendors, and help drive improvements in performance, reliability and governance while aligning with change processes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in application or systems support.
• Strong troubleshooting experience across business-critical applications.
• Hands-on SQL skills for querying and investigating application/data issues.
• Python or similar scripting experience for automation and data processing.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau or Grafana.
• Understanding of application integrations, data flows and underlying systems.
• Experience supporting incidents, upgrades, changes and problem resolution.
• Strong stakeholder and vendor management skills.

Responsibilities

• Support application upgrades, changes, integrations and improvement initiatives.
• Work closely with operational stakeholders to understand issues and translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Identify recurring technical problems and implement longer-term fixes.
• Maintain technical documentation and improve knowledge across the support team.
• Ensure application changes follow appropriate change, security and governance processes.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other Application Specialists.
• For Team Lead candidates, coordinate team priorities, workload and technical capability development.

We're open to either an experienced Team Lead or a strong Senior Application Specialist. The Senior position will have a greater hands‑on technical focus, while the Team Lead will combine technical ownership with team leadership, mentoring and workload management.

Description

As the Senior / Team Lead - Mining Applications, you'll provide senior technical support and ownership across applications, operational systems and associated data platforms used throughout mining operations.

You'll act as an escalation point for complex technical issues, work directly with operational stakeholders and vendors, and help drive improvements across application performance, reliability and supportability.

For a Team Lead, you'll also provide day-to-day leadership and technical guidance to Application Specialists. For a Senior candidate, the position will remain more hands‑on, with a stronger focus on troubleshooting, systems analysis and technical improvement.

Profile

We're looking for a technically strong Senior Application Specialist, Application Support Engineer or Applications Team Lead with experience supporting complex operational environments.

Key Experience:

• 5+ years' experience in application or systems support.
• Strong troubleshooting experience across business-critical applications.
• Hands‑on SQL skills for querying and investigating application/data issues.
• Python or similar scripting experience for automation and data processing.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau or Grafana.
• Understanding of application integrations, data flows and underlying systems.
• Experience supporting incidents, upgrades, changes and problem resolution.
• Strong stakeholder and vendor management skills.

Highly Regarded:

• Mining, resources or heavy industry experience.
• Experience with MineMarket, AVEVA Production Management (Ampla), CCLAS, GE Proficy Historian or Kepware.
• Exposure to SCADA, historians and OPC-DA / OPC-UA
• Exposure to AWS IoT Core, Greengrass or IoT SiteWise.
