Job summary

Xenco Services in Queensland is seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to join our team on a fixed-term FIFO contract. You will provide technical leadership across open cut mining engineering activities, supporting short, medium and long-term mine planning and production.

Qualifications

• Proven experience at Senior Mining Engineer or Lead Mining Engineer level in open cut mining.
• Experience in mine planning, scheduling and/or mine design.
• Strong leadership and the ability to translate plans into practical operations.
• Excellent communication with technical and operational teams.
• Ability to work effectively in a FIFO environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across open cut mining engineering activities.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to join our team, working directly with a leading Open Cut Mining Operation in Queensland. This is a FIFO opportunity on a fixed-term contract, supporting the site's technical and operational mining functions. This role will suit an experienced Mining Engineer with a strong open cut mining background who can provide technical leadership across mine planning and engineering activities, support safe and efficient production, and work collaboratively with site leadership, technical services and operational teams to achieve operational targets.

What You'll Be Doing

• Providing technical leadership and support across open cut mining engineering activities
• Supporting the development and implementation of short, medium and long-term mine plans
• Leading and contributing to mine design, scheduling and production planning activities
• Working closely with Mining Management and Operations to ensure plans are practical, achievable and aligned with operational requirements
• Monitoring mining performance against plans and identifying opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency and operational outcomes
• Providing technical input into mine design, sequencing, scheduling and optimisation
• Supporting the development and review of mining schedules and production forecasts
• Identifying operational and technical risks and developing practical solutions to maintain performance
• Working closely with Production, Geology, Survey, Maintenance and other key stakeholders
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to Mining Engineers and other members of the technical team
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across mining operations
• Supporting compliance with site standards, procedures and relevant regulatory requirements
• Providing technical reporting and communicating key issues, risks and opportunities to site leadership
• Taking a proactive approach to identifying opportunities to improve mine performance and delivery

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience at Senior Mining Engineer or Lead Mining Engineer level within an open cut mining environment
• Demonstrated experience in mine planning, scheduling and/or mine design
• Strong understanding of open cut mining practices, operational requirements and mine planning principles
• Experience working closely with mining operations and technical services teams
• Strong technical and analytical skills, with the ability to translate plans into practical operational outcomes
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and operational teams
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement and operational performance
• Ability to work effectively in a FIFO environment and adapt to changing operational priorities
