Morson Edge is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for an established building services consultancy in Sydney. You will lead mechanical services design across residential and mixed-use developments, with drafting support available and independent design ownership from day one.

The initial engagement is 3 months with strong potential to extend to 6 or 12 months, depending on project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

About the Company

Our client is an established building services engineering consultancy in Sydney with a strong background in mechanical and electrical design. Working across residential, mixed-use and commercial developments, they have a solid pipeline of projects and are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to provide additional technical capability to their team.

This is an initial 3-month assignment, with work expected to continue for at least 6 months and potential to extend further.

About the Role / Duties

You'll take responsibility for leading mechanical services design, working alongside an established engineering team with drafting support available.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading HVAC design across residential and mixed-use projects.
• Undertaking mechanical engineering calculations, equipment sizing and selection.
• Managing detailed design and construction documentation.
• Coordinating and reviewing work produced by drafting and modelling teams.
• Liaising with architects, engineers and other project stakeholders.
• Resolving technical design challenges and ensuring compliance with Australian Standards and the NCC.
• Delivering accurate, coordinated designs with minimal supervision.

Skills & Experience

• Strong mechanical building services design background, ideally at Senior Engineer level.
• Australian Class 2 residential experience is highly desirable.
• Strong international design experience from the UK, NZ or Europe will also be considered.
• Sound technical knowledge of HVAC systems, calculations and design documentation.
• Experience leading design delivery with drafting support.
• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of technical decisions.
• Availability at short notice would be advantageous.

Registered Design Practitioner status is not required, as regulated design sign-off will be handled separately.
