Job summary

Morson Edge Australia is recruiting a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a Sydney-based building services consultancy. You will lead mechanical services design across residential and mixed-use developments, with drafting support available to deliver coordinated designs.

The role requires strong HVAC design expertise, independent decision‑making, and ability to work across interfaces with architects and engineers. Initial 3‑month assignment with potential extension.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical building services design experience.
• Residential Class 2 experience desirable.
• Experience from UK/NZ/Europe considered.
• HVAC systems knowledge and design documentation.
• Experience leading design delivery with drafting support.
• Able to work independently and own technical decisions.
• Availability at short notice advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead HVAC design across residential and mixed-use projects.
• Undertake mechanical calculations, sizing and equipment selection.
• Manage detailed design and construction documentation.
• Coordinate and review work from drafting and modelling teams.
• Liaise with architects, engineers and other stakeholders.
• Resolve design challenges and ensure NCC/Australian Standards compliance.
• Deliver accurate, coordinated designs with minimal supervision.
