Job summary

Anglo American in Moranbah North Mine is seeking an experienced Longwall Superintendent to lead underground longwall operations. This senior role focuses on safety, production and reliability, coordinating production, maintenance and technical services to deliver outcomes.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience leading underground coal mining operations.
• Proven ability to manage longwall production and second workings.
• Experience leading large operational teams.
• Strong knowledge of Queensland coal mining legislation and underground safety systems.
• Sound planning, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Commitment to safety, accountability and workforce engagement.
• Current Australian driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible safety leadership across all longwall activities.
• Lead longwall production teams to safety and production objectives.
• Coordinate daily and weekly priorities across production, maintenance and technical functions.
• Monitor longwall performance and respond to changing conditions and risks.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, site standards and Safety and Health Management System.
• Lead the application of operational controls, risk assessments and TARPs.
• Support longwall planning, panel readiness and safe production activities.
• Review production performance, equipment availability and shift reporting.
• Work closely with the Underground Mine Manager, operations leaders, engineering and technical services teams.
• Build leadership capability through coaching, clear expectations and constructive feedback.
• Drive continuous improvement across safety, productivity, reliability and work practices.
