Job summary

Mode Talent Pty Ltd in Sydney is hiring an SRE to own the production trading environment. This hands-on role covers performance, reliability and operability of large-scale trading systems with on-call responsibility.

You’ll work directly with traders to communicate changes, troubleshoot incidents in real time, and coordinate production changes with Risk Management and Clearing. Relocation and visa sponsorship are available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in an operations-focused engineering role such as SRE, DevOps, Linux Systems Engineering or Network Engineering.
• Strong Python and shell scripting skills with at least 3 years hands-on experience.
• Deep Linux knowledge: kernel internals, scheduling, network and system configuration, performance tuning.
• Solid networking fundamentals: routing, multicast, VLAN tagging, LLDP and Ethernet.
• C++ familiarity is useful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and troubleshoot live trading systems to ensure uptime and performance.
• Build and maintain the operational toolkit: configuration management, deployment, monitoring, data collection and analysis.
• Collaborate with traders to communicate changes and manage incidents in real time.
• Coordinate production changes with Risk Management, Operational Trading Support and Clearing.
• Mentor and cross-train other SREs on the team and define production run processes.
