UNSW Canberra invites applications for a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in Stratospheric Physics. You will contribute to teaching and research while serving as Station Director of the Balloon Launching Station in Alice Springs, working with CSIRO, NASA and other space agencies.

The role combines curriculum development, supervision of students, and building a strong research portfolio, with opportunities to secure funding and collaborate internationally.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
• Expertise in atmospheric physics, electronics and/or stratospheric ballooning.
• Commitment to maintaining contemporary disciplinary knowledge and developments.
• Ability to contribute to teaching and research activities in the School.

Responsibilities

• Lead curriculum development and delivery across undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
• Publish and lead high-profile research outputs; supervise students and postdocs.
• Secure competitive research funding and foster collaborations with national and international partners.
• Lead large-scale projects including contract negotiations, tender evaluations, risk management and budget planning.
• Act as Station Director of the Balloon Launching Station in Alice Springs, engaging with CSIRO, NASA and other space agencies.
