Flight Centre Travel Group Australia is seeking a Senior Java Engineer for the South Bank, QLD region. This backend-focused role emphasizes building high-availability systems for travel bookings, with design ownership from ground up and integration with airline GDS and internal engines.

You will lead architecture decisions, develop robust services in Java (Spring), ensure reliability, and collaborate with product managers to translate complex workflows into scalable backend logic.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in Java (Java 11+, Java 17/21).
• Strong experience with Spring ecosystem (Boot, MVC, Data JPA, Security).
• Design and build complex REST APIs and SOAP/Web Services.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own backend services and APIs in Java.
• Implement change/cancellation processing, waitlist, and policy integration.
• Instrument services with Datadog for observability and define SLOs/SLIs.
• Mentor engineers and lead architecture/design discussions.
