Job summary

Qantas, Australia’s flagship carrier, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Back-End) to lead architecture, delivery and the development of scalable backend systems from our Adelaide Product Innovation Centre. You will be hands-on and mentor junior developers, work with Java/Spring Boot and Node.js, and deploy on AWS with Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring secure, reliable services for customers.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in a hands-on Software Engineering role.
• Strong experience building high-traffic backend applications.
• Working experience with back-end technologies (i.e Java, Spring / Spring Boot, Node JS) and databases (e.g PostgreSQL, DynamoDB).
• Understanding of cloud-native development on platforms such as AWS.
• Containerisation with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices.
• Experience with observability tools like Splunk or Datadog.
• A passion for quality and clean code.
• Experience in event-driven architectures like Kafka/SNS-SQS/EventBridge.
• Ability to mentor juniors.
