Job summary

The Department of Government Services (DGS) in Melbourne is seeking a Lead Investigator with a strong background in investigations and enforcement to manage complex cases under consumer law. You will provide expert analysis, prepare briefs of evidence and support the Team Manager in strategic directions.

Reporting to the Team Manager, Investigations and Compliance, you will guide junior staff, develop investigation plans and deliver timely, compliant outcomes across criminal, civil and tribunal

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) or equivalent is essential.
• a minimum of three years investigative and enforcement experience is preferred.
• a strong compliance background is highly regarded.
• a current Driver’s Licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and/or contribute to inquiries, investigations and monitoring activities under the office's legislation.
• Prepare reports and briefs of evidence for criminal, civil and tribunal matters.
• Provide specialist technical advice on complex compliance and enforcement cases.
• Guide and support other investigators to progress investigations and knowledge.
• Inform traders, community groups and consumers about rights and obligations under the applicable legislation.
• Develop and review investigation plans and conduct regular case reviews.
