Job summary

Downer is seeking an experienced Construction Manager for Substations & BESS in Western Australia. You will lead HV construction delivery, coordinating subs, crews, and scheduling while ensuring Zero Harm and on-time completion within budget.

You’ll support tenders, constructability reviews, and the energisation process, reporting to the Project Manager and aligning with Network Service Provider requirements. A strong safety culture is essential.

Qualifications

• Formal engineering or construction management qualification is required.
• Minimum 10 years' experience delivering HV substation/BESS/utility projects.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams on large projects (> $10M).

Responsibilities

• Lead safe delivery of HV substation and BESS construction activities near energised networks.
• Manage schedules, costs, resources, subcontractors, quality, and risks.
• Lead Supervisors and field teams; build workforce capability and project performance.
• Support testing, commissioning, outages, energisation and handover per NSP requirements.
• Contribute to tenders through constructability reviews and subcontractor scoping.
