Job summary

Downer in Western Australia seeks an experienced Construction Manager, Substations & BESS, to lead safe delivery of high-voltage substations and energy storage projects across the region.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will oversee construction planning, schedules, budgets, quality, and subcontractors while building workforce capability and upholding Zero Harm standards. This role offers a clear career path within Downer's Utilities and exposure to major energy infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years' experience delivering HV substation, BESS, transmission or utility infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary construction teams on large EPC/major contractor projects.
• Strong knowledge of HV construction, WHS, quality, environment and subcontractor management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the safe delivery of HV substation and BESS construction activities, including near energised networks.
• Manage schedules, costs, resources, subcontractors, quality and project risks.
• Lead supervisors and field teams, building capability and achieving project performance.
• Support testing, commissioning, energisation and project handover per NSP requirements.
• Contribute to tenders through constructability reviews and risk assessments.
