Job summary

UGL Pty Limited’s Utilities team seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to produce and check design deliverables for high-voltage transmission line and substation projects. You will work with minimal supervision, coordinate across disciplines, and mentor developing engineers.

The role covers earthing, insulation coordination, EMF and power system studies, with opportunities to lead design packages and liaise with clients. Based in North Sydney, a permanent, full-time position awaits.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering and Engineers Australia eligibility.
• At least 6 years of HV power system design or studies experience.
• Experience with earthing, insulation coordination, EMF, corona and power system analysis.
• Proficiency with CDEGS modules and EMT/PSCAD platforms; knowledge of PSS/E or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
• Strong technical writing and stakeholder management; ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specialist HV studies for transmission line and substation projects.
• Design primary transmission line and substation components: line parameters, transposition, conductor selection, clearances.
• Complete substation earthing design and modelling with soil and voltage assessments.
• Prepare and check technical reports, calculations, specs and design deliverables.
• Coordinate interfaces with other disciplines and mentor junior engineers.
• Liaise with clients, support tendering and project delivery; monitor progress and lead design packages.
