Job summary

UGL's Utilities team seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to design and check HV transmission lines and substations. You will work autonomously, coordinate interfaces across disciplines, and support the delivery of technically sound outcomes on time and within budget.

You will apply expertise in earthing, insulation coordination, EMF, corona and power system studies, with potential to act as Design Package Leader and mentor junior engineers. Based in North Sydney or nearby.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with Engineers Australia eligibility.
• At least six years in HV power design or studies.
• Experience across earthing, low-frequency induction, EMF, insulation coordination, corona and power system studies.
• EMT/EMTP, PSCAD, PSS/E or DIgSILENT PowerFactory experience.
• Knowledge of AS/NZS 7000, AS 2067, IEEE 80, ENA EG-0, AS/NZS 4853 and IEC 60071.

Responsibilities

• Deliver design deliverables and specialist studies for HV transmission line and substation projects.
• Coordinate interfaces across engineering disciplines and support drafting teams.
• Provide guidance as Design Package Leader and mentor engineers.
• Liaise with clients and support tendering and project delivery.
• Monitor progress and initiate corrective actions when required.
