Job summary

Centurion is seeking an experienced Senior HSEQ Advisor to join the Mackay team and strengthen our safety culture across operations. You will provide practical advice, coach teams, and drive continuous improvement in HSEQ performance, compliance and environmental stewardship.

The role requires leading incident investigations and supporting audits while partnering with leaders to manage risk and maintain standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a generalist HSEQ role.
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and Chain of Responsibility.
• Experience with incident investigations and safety coaching.

Job description

We’re looking for an experienced Senior HSEQ Advisor to join our Mackay team and play a key role in strengthening our safety culture, supporting operational teams and driving continuous improvement across HSEQ.

The Opportunity

As a Senior HSEQ Advisor, you’ll work closely with operational leaders and workers to promote a proactive safety culture and ensure HSEQ standards are consistently maintained.

You’ll provide practical advice, coaching and support across a range of HSEQ initiatives, while identifying opportunities to improve safety performance, compliance and operational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of HSEQ strategic and tactical plans.
• Coach and mentor operational teams on HSEQ processes, tools and responsibilities.
• Support consultation and participation processes across the business.
• Develop and review risk assessments, procedures and Safe Work Procedures with Operations.
• Conduct workplace inspections and internal audits, supporting external audits where required.
• Deliver HSEQ training and support teams with tools including risk assessments and Permit to Work.
• Lead critical incident investigations and support other incident investigations as required.
• Develop HSE Alerts and share key learnings to drive continuous improvement.
• Analyse HSEQ trends and statistics and report on key performance indicators.
• Support initiatives focused on preventing workplace injuries, illness and environmental incidents.
• Attend HSEQ, toolbox and customer meetings as required.

About You

We’re looking for an experienced HSEQ professional who can build strong relationships across operational environments and provide practical, solutions-focused advice.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a generalist HSEQ role, preferably within transport or logistics.
• Strong experience conducting and leading incident investigations.
• Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, Chain of Responsibility, road safety and environmental requirements.
• Strong communication and report writing skills.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work through complex operational challenges.
• A proactive approach to identifying risks and implementing practical solutions.
• Strong coaching and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with workers and leaders at all levels.
